Then came Science Fair. Caroline chose to do a project that was a bit more math based. It was Does the Golden Ratio Apply to Beauty? The Golden Ratio is the irrational number phi. It is a ratio that is found often in nature and is used by artists and architects because the ratio is more pleasing to the eye. Caroline tried to see if it applied to Human Beauty. She found pictures of 10 celebrities, calculated their ratio and then surveyed people at the soccer field to get her data. Here she is surveying her soccer team.
Her conclusion was that the Golden Ratio does not apply to beauty, but also found that if she had to do it over, she would make some changes. Her project was one of the few selected to go to the school science fair, but she did not place. It was still a great project. Good job Caroline!
When Science Fair finished, it was time to start History Fair. She chose to do a group project with her friend Julia. Their project is The Exploration of how Greek Mythology Affects Society.
They worked hard making the backboard and the exhibit in front.
Great job girls!
They came in 2nd place and get to go to the District History Fair in February. They have to make a lot of changes to their board, but what a great experience.
Caroline is having an exciting year. Not only did her Science Project get chosen to go to the school science fair, her history fair came in 2nd place and she is going to Districts, but her Tropicana Speech about Men's vs Women's Sports was selected to go to the school competition to represent her class! 6th grade has been great!
