October Fun

We've had another fun couple weeks. Starting with (although there are no pictures) Caroline's soccer game. She scored 2 goals!!!! It was very exciting. At her game on October 4th, she finally stepped up and took control of the ball. She figured out that if she could just break away from the group, she could easily take the ball to the goal. She is quick and has great ball skills. Then on the 11th, she scored 2 more. At our last game on the 18th, she said she scored 3 goals, but I saw 4 for sure and questioned the 5th. Anyway, she is doing great!!!

We took a family trip down to St. Augustine and saw the fort there. We even got to see them shoot off a cannon.

The next week, I took the kids down to Jacksonville Landing to see a Navy ship. It was an anniversary of the Navy, so they brought a ship down for everyone to check out. Unfortunately, they had so much interest that they cut off the line to board well before we got there. We just got to see it from the dock, then went off to get ice cream. Still a successful trip.

This weekend we took off for Gainesville to check out the Butterfly Festival with Aunt Leslie and Michael. They have a really great butterfly conservatory there. Caroline loved taking the card and identifying various species of butterflies and plants. Kevin just liked looking at the butterflies and getting scolded by the staff for touching the flowers.

At the festival they had a craft area where the kids could color butterfly masks and wings. This picture was taken after Leslie and I could not take the darting off of the boys. Strap them in!!!

Caroline had off from school this past Monday, so we took a trip to the zoo. Leslie told us of a play area for the kids. They could do puppet shows, color, do puzzles, and play veterinarian. Caroline had fun. Kevin just wanted to take the decorative animals off the windows.

We also got to go see the goats. Kevin took a little while to warm up to them, but got to brush them (with a long reach).

He finally warmed up enough to pet them with his hand.
Caroline had fun pretending to be a monkey on the monkey ropes. She even used her gymnastics skills to do some forward rolls on them.

Speaking of gymnastics, Caroline got invited to join the Pre-Team at gymnastics. We were very excited until we really thought about it. She isn't yet 5 and was needing to commit to gymnastics. This would mean no more soccer, tee-ball, etc. Plus it would have implications on Kevin's future extracurricular activities. We decided to put it off for a year and see if Caroline falls more in love with gymnastics and she can decide exactly what she wants to do.
