Summer Vacation Day 4 Toronto

Our hotel in Toronto was just a block away from the Hockey Museum.  We stopped to get a picture with the statue outside the museum on our way to breakfast.  I didn't think the kids would really enjoy the Hockey Museum, so we skipped it on this trip.

We did head to Black Creek Pioneer Village.  It was really neat.  We got there in time to listen to a woman tell us about her sheep.  She showed us the tools they use to shear them after the winter.

We went inside an old inn.  Caroline snuck under the bar counter to serve us up some drinks.

Here she is in the local Presbyterian Church.  It was amazing how simple it was.

We got to watch a farm-wife spin some wool.  Caroline even got to card some.  We learned that carding the wool was usually a job for the kids.  Both she and I had a tough time with it.  Those kids back in the pioneer days had to be really strong.

Then we headed outside to meet the pigs and learn a bit about them.

The kids also loved meeting the cows.

On our way out, we stopped at the Tin Maker's shop.  He was making a lantern.  Caroline loved our trip to the Pioneer Village.  She got to learn a lot.  She asked questions and really seem to enjoy it, especially after reading a few of the Little House on the Prairie books.  Kevin wasn't so into it, but maybe one day...

Later that afternoon, we headed to the Ontario Science Center.  We took our time having lunch and seeing some exhibits.  Here are Tom and Caroline playing the kettle drums.

Next we went into a rainforest.  Here is Kevin on a bridge by a waterfall.  Unfortunately right after this, they announced that the museum was closing!  We were so pissed.  We had only been there less than 2 hours.  They said nothing when we paid $60 to get in.  There was no sign on the door.  The guidebook said it was open until 6.  It was only 4 pm.  The kids were upset.  Especially Caroline.  They had a circus exhibit that was like the one we saw in Seattle.  This was our biggest disappointment of the trip. We still had 3or 4 floors we didn't get to see.
